Tip 1
Social Media
For a small business, social media is a great way to show case your service or product to a vast audience which would be difficult to reach through other channels.
You can also choose your audience so the right people are exposed to your business by filtering by area, niche, age group and interests. You can also use tags and hashtags dependant on which social media platform you use.
Another benefit of social media marketing for small businesses is that it allows you to talk directly to customers and followers. You can build relationships over time, rather than pushing for a sale and in turn gain repeat custom.
We have added a link to a 10 minute Youtube Video by Neil Patel which talks about 4 essential tips for beginners to social media marketing.
Tip 2
Wedding Business Pictures
As the saying says; “A picture is worth a thousand words”.
Not only does a picture showcase your product or service. It also tells a story about you and your brand.
Before you add a picture to your social media page or website, you need to ask yourself, does this picture represent my brand? What story is it telling about my business? Does it showcase the quality of my product or service?
If your brand is about fun and excitement, do you really want to show a corporate picture?
Is the picture blurred or pixelated? has it been taken at the right angle? Does it need any text or a background to enhance it?
There’s a lot to think about before you start adding pictures, however once you know the types of pictures that represent you business, it does become easier.
Canva is a really good website that allows you to edit and enhance your pictures. Sign up is free and gives loads of different types of templates for different media streams and there is also a Pro version which offers much more.
Tip 3
Videos
Tik-Tok is the perfect example of how popular videos have become. You can record a quick video on your phone, make a few edits and the video goes viral overnight.
You can use a production company to produce different types of videos for you like promotional videos, however if you are a new business with little or no budget, there are many mobile apps that you can use.
We have added a link to a How To video we made using I-Movies on an I-Phone.
Tip 4
Wedding Business Logo
It is a good idea to have a business logo as it is a representation of your brand.
You want your logo to grab the users attention and make a strong first impression.
Your logo need to be memorable and identifiable so if a potential customer has previously reviewed your business product or service and see’s you logo, they to recall how good your business product or service was.
You DO NOT want your logo to be similar to others as it separates you from competition, so you start to build loyalty.
If you have a website, it is always a good idea to have a Favicon that is very similar to your logo as it further solidifies your brand.
There are many logo makers out there in the market like Fiverr where you can choose from a host of freelance designers with the latest technology or if you have a limited or no budget, you can use an online tool like Canva where there are many templates to edit and use.
Tip 5
Network
As a small business owner a good way of free promotion is by the use of networks. Ask yourself, what types of other small businesses compliment yours? For example a floating cake table company would work well with a cake maker.
If you haven’t formed a relationship with them. Start by following them on social media. Like their posts and add comments. If they respond by following you and start liking and commenting on your posts. DM them and start a conversation around how each company compliments the other and suggest sharing potential leads and working together to offer customers more options.
DO NOT work with a business which does not adhere to the same high standards that your business upholds, as this can negatively impact you.
Tip 6
Wedding Fayres And Exhibitions
Wedding Fayres and Exhibitions are a great way of meeting potential clients and build relationships with other businesses that compliment yours.
If you have a stall or table, make it bright and welcoming. Clearly show what service or products you have on offer.
If you have the budget, offer a small branded gift to all visiting couples and ask for their email address so you can send them further details about your offerings.
Do not use pushy selling techniques.
Tip 7
Existing Clients
Once you have provided your product or service, stay in touch with your clients, send them a message from time to time thanking them for using your service and state how happy and honoured you were for the opportunity to be part of their special day. Politely ask them if your business met their expectations and how you could improve.
By engaging with existing clients, you have a good chance of a top review via social media and getting referrals from their friends and family.
Remember every bride and groom want their wedding day to be perfect and want everything to go smoothly so word of mouth referrals can be as effective, if not more effective than a top media campaign.
Tip 8
Promotions and Competitions
Everybody loves freebies so why not offer small gifts or prizes to get people interacting with your business and generate followers and leads. You don’t need to break the bank to do this.
If your wedding business is product and serviced based, why not offer a free sitting for the winner and a selected number of their guests, e.g. if you offer offer a bar service. Provide the winner with your bar service in their garden. this way, your potential client and their close family or friends can enjoy the experience, take pictures, to post on social media and provide feedback so you know what you are doing well and what you can improve on. This is a good medium to test your product or service. Make sure you take plenty of pictures and use them as a marketing tool.
Branded pens, small favours, calendars and mugs are all good runner up prizes or freebies which are a great way to promote your business visually.
Tip 9
Wedding Blogs

Tip 10

By promoting your business through one or both of these channels, you will have exposure to you key market.
